1. Data Controller

2. Data Collected

We collect and process only the following personal data:

• Newsletter email address: When you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address for newsletter delivery.
• Server log files: Each time you access our website, the hosting provider automatically records access logs containing your IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer, and user agent.
• Web analytics (GoatCounter): We collect aggregated page view statistics using GoatCounter (goatcounter.com). This includes URL, referrer, screen size, and country (via IP geolocation). Your IP address is not stored. GoatCounter does not use cookies. See Section 8 for details.

We do not collect any additional personal data. There are no user accounts and no contact forms.

3. Legal Basis

The processing of personal data is based on the following legal grounds:

• Newsletter: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). You may withdraw your consent at any time.
• Server log files: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest lies in ensuring the security and stability of our website.

4. Retention Periods

• Server log files: Log files are automatically deleted after 7 days.
• Newsletter email address: Your email address is stored until you revoke your consent. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time.

5. Hosting

Our website is hosted on servers located in a data center within the European Union. No transfer of personal data to third countries occurs through the hosting.

The hosting provider processes the data contained in the server log files on our behalf pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR.

6. Newsletter (Kit.com)

We use Kit.com (formerly ConvertKit), operated by Kit, Inc., based in Boise, Idaho, USA, for sending our newsletter.

When you subscribe to the newsletter, your email address is transmitted to and stored by Kit.com. The data transfer to the US is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF), for which the European Commission adopted an adequacy decision with Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1795.

Should the EU-US Data Privacy Framework adequacy decision be revoked, we will rely on Standard Contractual Clauses pursuant to Art. 46(2)(c) GDPR as a supplementary safeguard for the data transfer.

You may revoke your consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter via the unsubscribe link in every email or by sending an email to hallo@bootstrap.academy.

7. Cookies and Tracking

This website does not use tracking cookies or analytics cookies. No third-party content is automatically loaded that could set cookies.

We only use your browser's local storage (localStorage) to save your chosen color scheme preference (light/dark). This is not a cookie and does not contain personal data.

For aggregated page view statistics, we use GoatCounter, which does not set cookies (see Section 8).

Since we do not use tracking and do not employ technically unnecessary cookies, no cookie consent banner is required.

8. Web Analytics (GoatCounter)

We use GoatCounter (goatcounter.com), operated by Martin Tournoij, for collecting aggregated page view statistics. GoatCounter's servers are located in the European Union (Netherlands).

GoatCounter collects only the following aggregated data: page URL, referrer, screen size, and country (via IP geolocation). Your IP address is not stored. GoatCounter uses no cookies and does not collect personal data.

Since GoatCounter does not set cookies and only collects aggregated count data, it falls under the ePrivacy Directive exemption for strictly necessary processing and does not require consent.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). Our legitimate interest lies in understanding aggregated website usage to improve our offering.

9. Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
• Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
